Large Number of Chinese SMEs Have Listed On the Stock Exchanges Successfully, Expert Asks Indian SME
B Yerram Raju, Advisor and Director of Telangana Industrial Health Clinic Ltd, said that Indian entrepreneurs could look at equity as an option as even state sponsored debt comes at high interest rate of 18 per cent.
He was delivering the keynote address on ‘Keeping your Business Well Funded’, at the SURGE Conclave. Unfortunately, the number of Indian SMEs tapping the market is low. He cited the example of how hundreds of SMEs get listed on the stock markets in China, and said that entrepreneurs should focus on raising funds through the stock markets.
It is well known that impressive growth in the SME segment including SME exports have transformed the Chinese economy and made it one of the strongest in the world. He mentioned that Small and medium enterprises (SME),are deep in debt and need to look at equity funding going forward. In India, the NSE has been doing a commendable job in helping SMEs list on the stock exchange. Most recently Shri Nitin Gadkari, MSME minister launched the listing of the 200th SME on the NSE.
